Diversity Committee
At the University of Pittsburgh Residency Training Program we are committed to recruiting, supporting and retaining outstanding residents from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. In an effort to increase the number of underrepresented minorities (URM) in our training program, we have created the UPMC Internal Medicine Residency Diversity Committee, chaired by Dr. Conrad Smith. The committee is comprised of members from multiple divisions throughout the department and the health sciences and includes representation from all three PGY levels of residents. The committee's main charge is to recruit, support and mentor URM trainees and help transition them to junior faculty and fellowship positions. Focus includes life in Pittsburgh, networking, mentorship and professional support.
